A former LAPD undercover vice cop with a mysterious past, Christina Viramontes is now Los Angeles County’s Chief Deputy District Attorney and the brains of the D.A.’s office. To date, she has de-emphasized her statuesque figure and scarlet red hair, leaving the spotlight to her husband Eduardo. But once she discovers that Eduardo is prepared to put their marriage, her career, and even her life at risk, she silently plots revenge and also steals the spotlight from Eduardo by reverting to her previously glamorous persona.

Dazzlingly handsome with a killer smile, Eduardo is wrapping up his second term as District Attorney and has announced his candidacy for Mayor. His marriage to Christina has become a façade for their mutual political convenience. He’s constantly surrounded by groupies and feels obligated to accommodate them all. Thus far his affairs have not damaged his career, but with a politician’s usual hubris, he cannot avoid taking risks even as the social climate changes and his sort of behavior is no longer considered acceptable.

A raven-haired, late 20s TV news anchor, Marisela is a rising star in her own right. Assigned to cover Eduardo’s campaign, she quickly enters into a romantic relationship with him. As an on-air personality, Marisela is still a bit tenuous on the job and is prone to the occasional malaprop. But in a town where image is everything, there’s little doubt she’s destined for a bigger stage. Is she sleeping her way to the top? Who cares?

An imposing figure who may or may not have underworld connections, Peluso runs a high-tech “information technology and risk management” firm that basically conducts surveillance for purposes of blackmail. He has the whole town wired and has mutually beneficial relationships with elected officials and law enforcement at every level. Highly incensed when his “friend” Eduardo indicts him on various charges – an obvious political move to benefit Eduardo with an election upcoming – he offers to assist Christina in her pursuit of revenge.

Christina’s training officer as an L.A.P.D. rookie, Sandi unexpectedly shows up eight years later in the criminal law course that Christina teaches. Is her sudden reappearance just a bit too coincidental? Sandi offers her support and encourages Christina to use her undercover vice cop training to counteract Eduardo’s betrayal. She also hopes to rekindle the brief romantic relationship she previously had with Christina during her L.A.P.D. days. Who knows exactly what her agenda is, or if she’s really in Christina’s corner?

Tall and handsome with a military bearing, Banks was once People’s “sexiest man alive” -- pretty heady stuff for an L.A.P.D. lifer. He learned early in his career that undercover vice could produce quite lucrative additional revenue streams to supplement his base salary. He also became adept at obtaining compromising information on anyone who could influence his fortunes, and rose through the ranks to become Chief of Police. He has a history with Christina Viramontes and it will be intriguing to see if they’ll help each other or kill each other.

A notorious serial rapist and murderer, better known as the Midnight Slasher, he was serving a life sentence when his conviction was suddenly and surprisingly overturned on appeal. Now he’s about to return to L.A. for a hearing on a new trial. At his previous trial, he had threatened to kill Eduardo, the judge and the jury. Could Christina stash him away until he makes good on his threat to Eduardo? That could work out nicely for her. She could also become his dominatrix, make him her love slave, and have some fun in the process.
